GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – Summer is in full swing, which means lots of great weekend events for families! Whether you’re looking for an educational experience, want to exercise in nature, or view art, there’s something for you and your family. Check out what’s on for family fun this weekend!

BIG 4 FAMILY FUN:

STEAM Saturday at the Air Zoo

STEAM Days is back at the Air Zoo with family-focused hands-on learning, science stations, tech tables, arts activities and more! Activities are organized by Air Zoo’s education team and several of its local partners. The event is free and takes place outdoors on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Super Social 22 at Country Dairy

Head to Country Dairy in New Era for Super Social 22 with ice cream, wagon rides, farm tours, music and more! Admission is $10 for adults and children under 12 are free. The event starts on Saturday at 11 a.m. and lasts until 8 p.m.!

Visit downtown Muskegon on Saturday and Sunday to see all kinds of art, food, live entertainment and more! They even have a children’s ride where kids can have fun and participate in artsy activities that allow them to learn and be creative at the same time.

Grand Haven Musical Fountain

Head to Grand Haven on Saturday night to enjoy songs from the first and second Frozen movies alongside the original Broadway cast of Frozen the Musical. The music starts at 10:10pm and lasts about half an hour – kids will love watching the water, lights and music play together while listening to their favorite songs!

Fair at the Odessa Lake

Summer is a great time to attend all the local county and community fairs! One thing is coming up this weekend – the Lake Odessa Fair! There is so much to see and enjoy including livestock, a car show, a parade, pickleball, sand volleyball, dodgeball and of course a carnival! It’s sure to be fun for the whole family and you can secure your tickets here.

International Merfest in South Haven

Enjoy mermaids, music, vendors, a water park, drone shows and more all weekend long at Lake Arvesta Resort in South Haven! Merfest International is a global festival of mermaids and mermen dedicated to preserving our planet’s aquatic ecosystem. You can get tickets here!

Fridays at the farm

Join our friends at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park and have lots of family fun on the farm! They can work together on a quilting project and complete farming “chore challenges,” along with farm-inspired stories, games, music, and more! Stop by on Friday between 11am and 2pm for some fun – entry is free!

Free Admission Day at Forever Curious Children’s Museum (Residents of Allegan Co.)

On this day, admission to the Forever Curious Children’s Museum is free for Allegan County residents (proof of residence required upon arrival). Kids can check out exhibits that offer hands-on fun and learning opportunities, as well as special STEAM challenges, a fire engine exhibit, and a veterinary clinic. Not a resident of Allegan County? It’s still a great place for kids to check out and explore, and entry is only $5 per person!

Kids, Crafts & Critters at the Coopersville Farm Museum

Visit the Coopersville Farm Museum on Saturday from 10am to 1pm for a free event for kids and families! You can make soap with Happy Goat ($6), visit the petting zoo, tour the exhibits, and enjoy free crafts for all ages.

Free kids yoga at Pleasant Park

Saturday morning at 10am it’s time to get the kids out and get active! As part of the Grand Rapids Parks and Recreation Department’s Free Outdoor Fitness Series, you can participate in yoga for free! Children will use the theme of the week to develop their own postures and yoga flow and it is geared towards children aged 2-10 years. Just drop by Pleasant Park!

Grand Haven Arts Festival

Make your way to the lakefront for 3 days of art, live music, art and more! Admission is free and there is even a Family Fun Day which takes place on Saturday from 10am to 2pm. Family fun takes place on Second Street (outside Washington) and features free arts and crafts activities for kids!

Open play at RLM Amusements

Here’s a good one for teens! RLM Amusements is open on Saturdays from 12pm to 10pm. For $10 you can play dozens of pinball machines and arcade games all day long. Pinball games include Godzilla Pro, Avengers Infinity Quest Premium, and Jurassic Park Premium. They also have classic arcade games like Galaga, Ms Pac-Man, Moon Patrol and Donkey Kong and other games like NFL Blitz ’99, Big Buck Hunter Pro, Fast and The Furious, a foosball table and an air hockey table. June Storywalk Book in Hastings

Learn all about bees and their natural world in Hastings for this month’s storywalk book, Begin with a Bee, by Liza Ketchum, Jacqueline Briggs Martin and Phyllis Root. Follow the life cycle of a queen bumblebee as she emerges in search of pollen in spring. The story also highlights the struggles of this first bee to be placed on the US Endangered Fish and Wildlife Species List. This event is free and you can come anytime between 9am and 5pm on Saturday 4th June.

Family Movies: Sonic the Hedgehog 2

Head to a Celebration Cinema this weekend to enjoy the Flicks Family Films Series. Families can enjoy the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie this weekend. Children under the age of twelve can enjoy the film completely free and everyone else pays only five dollars. This funny film will make the whole family laugh. GRAM Drop-In Studio: Detailed painting

This weekend, explore the art museum and check out the drop-in studio courses, which offer unique opportunities to understand a part of their collection through creating your own art. In this week’s studio, people can create their favorite landscapes with impressionistic effects inspired by their exhibition In a New Light: American Impressionism 1870-1940. Practice dabbing and clipping techniques in bright colors like the American Impressionists! The event is free with admission to the museum, just drop by on Saturday between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.!
